The ‘WE ARE CYBORG’ series of events at NIO House Berlin explores the relationship between humans and machines and examines how intelligent technologies are reshaping our understanding of human identity.

In two public events, the artist Mitja Kötter combines art and technology and invites the audience to take a fresh look at the boundaries between the human and the machine.

On 7 November 2026, ‘WE ARE CYBORG – HUMAN / MACHINE’ is on the programme. The artist talk, featuring a live projection, offers an artistic perspective on the interplay between human identity and technological development.

This will be followed on 28 November 2026 by ‘WE ARE CYBORG – BECOME CYBORG’. The second event takes the theme further and encourages reflection on the increasing convergence of humans and technology, as well as on possible forms of future identity.

Both events will take place at NIO House Berlin, Kurfürstendamm 11. They will begin at 4 pm on both occasions.

1. WE ARE CYBORG – HUMAN / MACHINE

Artist talk & live projection

Saturday, 7 November 2026, 4–5 pm

How much of the human element remains in our digital present? Berlin-based artist Mitja Kötter combines his own portrait photographs with macro shots of computer motherboards. Eleven people, eleven boards: the hybrid faces in his project WE ARE CYBORG explore the relationship between humans and technology. All the source photographs were taken by the artist; the artworks are created without the use of generative AI.

In an artist talk, Kötter will recount his journey: from studying philosophy in Berlin, through thirteen years in the world of Formula 1, to discovering discarded motherboards in an attic. Afterwards, guests can become part of the visual world themselves during a live projection and will later receive their photographed cyborg portrait free of charge as a digital file.

The accompanying exhibition, featuring UV direct prints on glass, can be viewed on site.

2. WE ARE CYBORG – BECOME CYBORG

Open discussion & live projection

Saturday, 28 November 2026, 4–5 pm

What does your digital self look like? At BECOME CYBORG, Mitja Kötter opens up his art project to the public. In a live projection, his photographed motherboard structures are superimposed onto the faces and bodies of the participants. They will subsequently receive the resulting cyborg portrait free of charge as a digital image file.

An open discussion accompanies the event: How does technology change the way we see ourselves? Where does the machine begin, and where does the human end? Take part, watch or join in the discussion – guests decide for themselves.

Kötter studied philosophy in Berlin and worked in the Formula 1 sector for thirteen years. A hoard of discarded motherboards found in an attic became the starting point for WE ARE CYBORG. The project combines his own portrait and macro photography without the use of generative AI. The accompanying glass works are on display at the venue.

Venue: NIO House Berlin,

Kurfürstendamm 11, on the corner of Kantstraße, 10719 Berlin.
