Richard Kimberley
Using physical theatre, mime and clowning, performer Richard Kimberley takes the audience along on Jimmy’s journey. Along the way, the young hero confronts major themes: societal role models, repressed grief, toxic behaviour, shame – and the desire to leave childhood behind and find his own path to manhood.
Laughing, crying, feeling confused and amused together – in this show that is both intimate and comically serious.
Richard Kimberley, born in 1985, is a performer, lecturer in physical theatre and mask work, magician, musician and group leader – and has been performing on international stages and in workshop spaces for over ten years.
In 2013, he co-developed the award-winning music-acrobatics-comedy show BARADA STREET, with which he has been performing worldwide ever since. He works as an assistant teacher at the renowned École Philippe Gaulier and at Matteo Destro’s Mask Movement Theatre Atelier.
Since 2019, Richard has been leading the workshop THE MALE IDIOT together with Gestalt therapist Thilo Nonne. In this personal development workshop, men explore their own masculinity by playing exaggerated versions of themselves. What initially appeared to be individual quirks turned out, over time, to be a collective wound. It was from these experiences that the idea for JIMMY ultimately emerged.
