An exciting evening with the Murderous Sisters and their new anthology, *Crime with Style*

The Halloween crime fiction evening is called ‘Trick or Treat?’. On Halloween, a stalker spots a dead body in the window opposite. If thoughts could kill…

Anna wrote the best legal briefs, but Regina presented them. Everyone was talking about her, but not Anna. Yara Knaller kept the house in order, but Halloween was a thorn in her side. Three stories from ‘Crime with Style’ (edited by Slavica Klimkowsky and Heidi Ramlow). The authors Heidi Ramlow and Susanne Rüster present the anniversary anthology: profound, abysmal, powerful. A thematic diversity that delves deep into the depths of the human soul, violence and death, and ruthlessly illuminates the dark side of being human.

Yet however bleak that may seem: in real life, the Mörderische Schwestern e.V. have been championing the exact opposite for 30 years – solidarity, cohesion and a strong sense of community.

You are invited to the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Library (Brandenburgische Straße 2, 10713 Berlin) on Thursday, 29 October, at 7.30 pm.

Admission is free; donations are welcome. On 20 November, there will be another reading from the anthology featuring the Mörderische Schwestern, this time with Helene Baumann, Swenja Karsten and Slavica Klimkowsky. The theme for this event is ‘Money. Power. Love.’

Our thanks go to the supporters and sponsors: the Berliner Autorenlesefonds, the Association of German Writers in ver.di (VS) and Hahn Bestattungen.

Incidentally, Mörderische Schwestern e.V. is the largest European non-profit association of German-speaking female crime writers, dedicated to promoting crime fiction written by women, and will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026: this event is taking place as part of those celebrations. Around 750 female authors and women associated with crime fiction are members of ‘Mörderische Schwestern’, organised into 14 regional groups. They live and work in 19 countries: Japan, Austria, Switzerland, England, France, Sweden, Portugal, Ireland and Germany. In Brandenburg and Berlin, there are around 70 authors; they meet regularly on the 13th of every month at the Kreuzberg pub ‘Max und Moritz’.
