The Humboldt Library is bringing top-class cinema to the dark winter months: until March, our new film series invites you to enjoy gripping evenings amongst the bookshelves once a month.

The series kicks off with the gripping political drama *The People vs. Fritz Bauer* by Lars Kraume, which has won no fewer than six German Film Awards (including the Lola for Best Feature Film) as well as the Audience Award at Locarno.

Germany, 1957. The young Federal Republic is in the midst of the Economic Miracle and would prefer to hush up the horrors of the Nazi era. But public prosecutor Fritz Bauer (Burghart Klaußner) refuses to forget. When a tip-off leads him on the trail of the fugitive Nazi criminal Adolf Eichmann, he sets out to track him down. Supported by the young public prosecutor Karl Angermann (Ronald Zehrfeld), Bauer encounters fierce resistance during his investigations, reaching right up to the highest echelons of politics and the judiciary. A dramatic struggle ensues, pushing both men to their absolute limits.
