Embark on a journey through five decades of queer history in East Berlin. Director Kathrin Schultz’s documentary sheds light on the moving evolution of the Sonntags-Club – from its courageous, sometimes clandestine beginnings in the GDR to becoming one of the most important queer hubs in Berlin today. The focus is on the people who paved the way.

What to expect: Following the screening (98 mins), you’re invited to an exclusive Q&A session. Activist and eyewitness Peter Rausch will be there as a special guest. As one of the co-founders of the Berlin gay rights movement, he’ll share his very personal insights, anecdotes and the hurdles he faced back then.

This evening offers you a rare opportunity to experience living history at first hand. Ask your questions directly to one of the pioneers of queer emancipation, discuss the changes within the community with us, and be inspired by fifty years of courage, solidarity and activism!

Peter Rausch is a veteran and pioneer of the Berlin gay rights movement. As early as the 1970s, he was active in the Homosexual Interest Group Berlin (HIB) in the GDR. He later became the first executive project manager of the Sonntags-Club e. V. As a key contemporary witness both on film and in everyday life, he has been fighting for visibility and queer rights for decades.

Free admission, no booking required.
