Just as many songbirds regularly fly to their wintering grounds, Emma Elisabeth and Reema are returning to Germany this autumn for their small but delightful ‘The Two Songbirds’ tour, and will also be performing at Gibney’s in Berlin’s Friedrichshain district on 28 October 26.

The two artists, hailed by the international press and hailing from Sweden and England, have devised a special concept for the occasion: they are combining their songs into a joint programme and accompanying each other musically on stage.

In the classic tradition of singer-songwriters, they use guitar, piano and two outstanding voices to sing of a multifaceted world of hope, love, grief and self-discovery – a world that these talented introverts reveal to their audience through their stories.

Music publications have previously lauded Emma Elisabeth for her blend of indie pop, folk rock and Americana – which has strong roots in the 70s and 80s – with comparisons in the past to Stevie Nicks or Carole King, whilst Reema feels at home in folk with a modern twist and has been described, with her crystal-clear voice, as “courageous, honest and truly (truly) beautiful” and “out of this world”. She, too, is often drawn into comparisons with no less renowned figures, such as the Canadian musician Joni Mitchell.

These experienced artists can already look back on impressive careers, which include the release of several studio albums and international live tours across Europe, Japan and as far afield as America. According to the live duo, alongside songs from their existing discography, the set list will also feature one or two new tracks. It therefore promises to be an exciting, varied and, for some, deeply moving evening – or as the British would put it, in their far more practical, dry and sometimes slightly morbid way: there’s some top-quality entertainment on offer here, and you’ll literally be killing ‘two (song)birds with one stone’.
