with Funda Özgünaydin and Dr. Sarah Frost

With her exhibition in the ZAK lounge, Funda Özgünaydin offers insights into her wide-ranging artistic processes and presents both photography-based series exploring the relationship between animals and humans, as well as video miniatures and large-format paintings that elevate the chimera – the hybrid creature halfway between human and animal – to a new medium for critical exploration of the world.

Many of her works examine traditional structures and fixed identities in order to get a little closer to the question of the truth behind the surface in an age of complex imaging techniques.

Dr Sarah Frost is an art historian and completed her PhD at the Braunschweig University of Art as part of the DFG Research Training Group ‘The Photographic Dispositif’. For her dissertation, she researched the estate of the American photographer Jerry Berndt.

Her engagement with archives and photographic collections in Germany, Italy, Austria, Japan and the USA opened up many new perspectives on how to approach artistic collections.
