BERLATIN Premiere
Following the huge success of LA ÚLTIMA TARDE and LA PIEL MÁS TEMIDA at the Babylon, director Joel Calero returns to Berlin with FAMILY ALBUM, the third and final instalment of his acclaimed ‘Memory Trilogy’.
Memory. Family. Historical wounds.
Alex is about to become a father when he discovers a family album that reveals buried secrets of infidelity, violence and a past shaped by Peru’s internal armed conflict. As he grapples with his family’s hidden history, the boundaries between personal memory and collective trauma begin to blur.
Following two successful screenings at the Babylon, Calero’s cinematic exploration of Peru’s historical memory comes to a close. The previous screening was sold out, necessitating the use of an additional screening room. This time, BERLATIN will be taking over the Babylon’s main auditorium.
After the screening: an exclusive live Q&A with director Joel Calero.
The premiere is part of BERLATIN, a series showcasing Latin American arthouse cinema and bringing the region’s most compelling stories to Berlin audiences. The series is organised by LATIN QUARTER Film Distribution in collaboration with the Babylon cinema.
Peru/Colombia, 2024, 94 mins, [original version with German subtitles]. Starring Emanuel Soriano, María Fernanda Valera and Lucho Cáceres. Director Joel Calero will be in attendance!
