Children's Concert 1
In this beloved piece, Benjamin Britten introduces the orchestra and all its instruments. The audience meets them as a variety of animals: sometimes chirping and nimble like a bird, sometimes deep and heavy like an elephant, sometimes gliding and shiny like a fish.
It all begins with a single motif that comes again and again, gradually travelling through the whole orchestra. Along the way, you discover what the instruments have in common and what makes them different: high and low, bright and dark, loud and soft – it’s all there.
