Shared Shores
Every year, INTERFILM and KUKI screen more than 350 short films across over 60 programmes, events, workshops and case studies: a wealth of perspectives, stories, narratives and impressions that can be overwhelming. That’s why INTERFILM and KUKI are inviting you to the Roter Salon on 12 October for a preview of the programme for the 42nd and 19th editions of the festivals respectively. Major themes in short films, presented by the curators themselves. There will also be drinks and the chance to chat with filmmakers, experts and film enthusiasts. Special attention will be paid to this year’s festival focus:
Under the title ‘Shared Shores’, INTERFILM’s 42nd edition explores what remains in common when we strip away all that is constructed. Shared struggles, emotions, desires and fears: beneath everything that sets us apart, there are parallels, connections and symmetry. Independently of one another, parallel movements emerge in response to comparable situations. Something connects us, even if we can neither explain nor name it. Where language fails, art reveals its potential and curation fulfils its purpose. For it is only in the combination of different perspectives and contrasting narratives that we find the antithesis to the capitalist logic of isolation: kinship in opposition, solidarity in difference, connectedness in contrast.
