In two villages that had been at loggerheads for ages, even the children had always been at each other’s throats, and because at some point they started cutting off their opponents’ buttons, their war came to be known as the ‘War of the Buttons’.

In 1944, the real war reaches the south of France. And the pretty Violette turns village life upside down. For her real name is actually Myriam; she is Jewish and therefore in great danger. Now the two feuding villages have no choice but to join forces and turn against the real enemy.

France 2011, Dir: Christophe Barratier.
