What is it, this thing between mothers and sons? This very special relationship. This deep bond, whilst at the same time being so distant from one another. Mothers are urged to raise their sons to be ‘good men’, not perpetrators. And this before they can even crawl. Isn’t that absurd?
One thing is certain: in these times, it seems more urgent than ever, yet remains as complex as it presumably always has been.
Because there are no simple answers to any of the questions that arise in this context, the actresses Elisabeth Müller and Franziska Endres have turned to the supposedly most experienced of all mothers: literature.
Texts by Simone Buchholz, Joachim Meyerhoff, Emilia Roig and others.
