TikTok, Instagram, podcasts and the like are opening up new spaces for voices that are often overlooked in traditional media. People with a history of fleeing the former Yugoslavia share their memories, explain the war, flight and displacement, and discuss the consequences that continue to be felt across generations.

Yet whilst opportunities for visibility and exchange arise, disinformation and nationalist narratives are also spreading. When does social media become a space for solidarity, and where does the danger begin?
