Peppi Guggenheim’s ‘Exil’ music programme @ Little Stage Bar, Neukölln

Drawing inspiration from the tension between parental leave and the state of the world, the Slow Loris Quartet is releasing its high-energy second album. “Auszeiten” will be released in November 2026 on CD and

across the digital landscape, consistently refining the style established on ‘Schlafphasen’ (2020) with seven tracks.

Whilst the music of guitarist and composer Carl Justus Kröning can, in the broadest sense, be categorised as modern jazz, it extends far beyond that: the density of chamber music and motivic development meet the directness and energy of rock music.

Particularly striking is the skilful interplay between guitar, piano, bass and drums, which lends the music an enormous dynamic range and emotional depth. Despite all its underlying complexity, the album’s tracks remain immediately accessible and invite listeners to enjoy relaxing, focused or even contemplative ‘time-outs’ – even from the current state of the world. After many years of performing together, the quartet is a well-rehearsed team and is now going on tour with new material, bringing this experience back to the stage.

  • Carl Justus Kröning – guitar and composition
  • Christopher Lübeck – piano/synthesiser
  • Johannes Fricke – double bass/electric bass
  • Claas Lausen – drums
