An immersive journey into space

World premiere in Berlin: An extraordinary mission to the stars! From 4 December 2026, ARENA BERLIN will host the world premiere of an immersive experience that takes visitors far beyond the boundaries of our planet. “SPACE DISCOVERY – An Immersive Journey into Space” combines fascinating space history, immersive visual worlds and interactive discovery activities to create a spectacular mission for the whole family.

From a rocket launch to life on a space station and the distant planets of our solar system, the adventure of space comes to life in an emotional and accessible way.

The first German woman in space is officially supporting the exhibition as its ambassador: astronaut Rabea Rogge. Born in Berlin, she made history with her spaceflight in 2025. For “SPACE DISCOVERY”, she is drawing on her own space experience, lending the world premiere in her home city a special significance. And that’s not all: Rabea Rogge herself narrates the audio guide, which accompanies visitors on their mission into the universe.

A journey through the history and future of space travel

The tour begins with a fascination that has united people for millennia: gazing at the stars. Glowing constellations and historical star charts tell the story of how the observation of the heavens gave rise to the desire to venture into space oneself. Then the countdown begins: the staged rocket launch is followed by a view of Earth.

On board the replica space station, guests discover how people live, work and conduct research in space. Photographs, simulated views, models and interactive stations bring everyday life far from Earth to life. In the control centre, the focus is on the ground teams and the technology behind a space mission. Here, visitors can also become designers themselves and create their own rocket.

Another section takes visitors to the Moon: the story of Apollo 11 and the view of the Earth rising above the lunar horizon bring to life the fascination of one of the most significant chapters in space exploration. Among the special exhibits are a replica of the Moon Rover from the Apollo 17 mission and a replica of the A7L space suit from the Apollo space programme. They bring the technology behind the historic lunar missions to life up close.

A particular highlight is the immersive journey through the solar system

In the immersive experience room, a 20-minute presentation takes visitors into the vastness of our solar system. Guests experience the dimensions of space from unusual perspectives and immerse themselves in distant worlds.

Large-scale visual displays and simulated views are interwoven with the stories of the missions that have shaped our understanding of the universe. The result is a journey that combines scientific discoveries with the emotional power of multimedia presentation.

When the spirit of discovery becomes an experience

How do people prepare for a space flight? What skills will the next generations of astronauts need? Interactive activities invite visitors to learn about the demands of training in a playful way and to test their own abilities.

‘SPACE DISCOVERY’ offers a variety of ways to explore space for families, school groups and curious adults, as well as for enthusiastic space fans. Historical milestones, current research and visions of the future come together in a mission where there is always something new to discover and try out.

A new perspective on our planet

The journey concludes with a return to Earth. An installation captures the atmosphere of a returning space capsule and focuses attention on our planet. At the same time, it offers insights into the future of German and European space travel, which is a particular focus of the exhibition,

Inspired by the ‘Overview Effect’ – the altered perspective of Earth from space – our home takes centre stage: unique, vulnerable and without visible boundaries. In this way, ‘SPACE DISCOVERY’ combines a passion for distant worlds with an invitation to rediscover our own planet.

PRODUCER & LOCAL ORGANISER

COFO Entertainment, based in Passau, is one of the leading event organisers in the German-speaking world, staging several hundred events a year. Its wide-ranging portfolio extends from concerts, musicals, shows and comedy to family entertainment. COFO also regularly stages events at various venues in Berlin – in 2027, for example, with ‘BEAT IT! – The hit show about the King of Pop!’ or ‘ROCKET MAN – The Elton John Biopic’.

The international exhibition business, in particular, is an important and steadily growing part of COFO’s diverse offering. The company’s successful entry into this sector was marked in 2013 by the exhibition on the world-famous Terracotta Army and the First Emperor of China in Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. This was followed by blockbuster exhibitions such as “Tutankhamun – His Tomb and Treasures”, “Da Vinci – The Genius”, “Body Worlds” and “Titanic – Real Artefacts, True Stories”, which were presented throughout the German-speaking world.

Even amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, COFO consistently expanded its involvement in the exhibition sector. With the innovative concept ‘Art as an Experience’, new avenues for presenting art were explored. Projects such as “The Great Masters of the Renaissance” and “Andy Warhol – Pop Art Identities”, as well as immersive productions such as “Van Gogh – The Immersive Experience” or “Titanic: An Immersive Journey”, open up new avenues for the public to engage with art, culture and history, bringing them to life in a unique way.

The exhibitions produced by Oliver Forster on the street art superstar Banksy represent an extraordinary success story. ‘The Mystery of Banksy – A Genius Mind’ and ‘House of Banksy – An Unauthorised Exhibition’ have now been shown at 41 venues across twelve countries and have together attracted more than four million visitors.

Following the world premiere of the exhibition “Polar Experience – An Immersive Exhibition on the Arctic and Antarctic” last winter at the Arena Berlin, “SPACE DISCOVERY – An Immersive Journey into Space” is now the next world premiere in the German capital, and with it COFO continues on its path of making knowledge, culture and entertainment accessible to a wide audience through extraordinary exhibition experiences.

The exhibition texts and the audio guide tracks are available in German and English. The audio guide, which can be accessed via your own smartphone, is included in the admission price.
