Sasha Waltz

Furious dance and poetic imagery: against the backdrop of a symbolic wall, rhythmic, high-energy movement sequences illuminate the pulsating atmosphere of a street. Sasha Waltz’s piece ‘Zweiland’ is almost exactly 30 years young.

In this fast-paced and surreal choreography set to “Pictures from Germany” – and exploring borders and the act of overcoming them – everyday situations, pushed to the point of absurdity, meet character studies and fairy-tale-like imagery. Seven performers interpret German songs from various centuries, blending music and dance into a single entity.

The piece is almost prophetically titled “Zweiland” (Two Lands), rather than “Einland” (One Land). Following its revival in August 2026, this spectacular, multi-layered production returns once more to the Radialsystem – a new generation of dancers propels this iconic piece into the here and now.
